What is the guaranteed average minimum monthly income?

Updated on

The guaranteed average minimum monthly income is Belgium’s statutory minimum wage: €2,233.61 gross a month for a full-time worker aged 18 and over, since 1 July 2026. In Dutch: gewaarborgd gemiddeld minimummaandinkomen (GGMMI).

Definition of the guaranteed average minimum monthly income

It is set by CLA No. 43 of the National Labour Council and applies when your sector does not provide for a higher pay scale. It is indexed by 2% in the month after the pivot index is exceeded. For part-time work, it applies in proportion to your hours.

Without a sector pay scale, a student under 21 can be paid a percentage of this amount, depending on their age.
