Translate my payslip into Dutch, German or English

Updated on

Translate your payslip

Upload your payslip as a PDF, or paste its text: Indexo recognises each label and translates it into Dutch, German or English, with the official Belgian term where there is one. ‘Cotisations ONSS’ (social security contributions) become persoonlijke werknemersbijdragen in Dutch and Persönlicher LSS-Beitrag in German; ‘précompte professionnel’ (withholding tax) becomes bedrijfsvoorheffing and Berufssteuervorabzug.

The dictionary has 50 terms, checked on 19 October 2026. It is built into the page: the translation is done on your device, with no online translation service, and your payslip is sent nowhere.

Where the translations come from

Belgium has three official languages, and the National Social Security Office (NSSO) publishes the coding of payslip lines in French, Dutch and German, with the same codes. Indexo relies on these official labels: 47 of the 50 German terms come from an official Belgian text written in German.

  • Dutch: the terms used by the NSSO (RSZ) and FPS Finance, and those in Indexo’s glossary. A few terms taken from a single Belgian source are marked ‘to be confirmed’.
  • German: the German used in Belgium, by the NSSO (LSS), the National Employment Office (NEO, LfA in German) and the Constitutional Court. For 2 terms, parts A and B of the work bonus, no official term was found: Indexo leaves them untranslated rather than invent one.
  • English: Belgian payroll has no official terminology in English. These are Indexo’s usual translations, useful for understanding, not for official procedures.

The payslip dictionary

The 50 terms the tool recognises, with what they mean. The German is that of official Belgian texts; a company in the German-speaking Community may use other words on its payslips.

Frequently asked questions

My payslip is in Dutch: can I translate it into French?

Yes. Choose ‘French’ in ‘Translate into’: Indexo recognises Dutch, German and English labels and gives the French term.

Does Indexo send my payslip to a translation service?

No. The dictionary is built into the page and the payslip is read in your browser. Nothing is sent, neither to Indexo nor to an online service.

Are the amounts checked?

Not here: the tool translates the labels and copies the amounts. To find out whether your net pay is right, use Check my payslip.

Why are some German terms ‘approximate’?

The official text exists, but worded slightly differently from a payslip: for example, the NSSO refers to the ‘gewährter Betrag’ where a payslip would rather say ‘Nettolohn’. Indexo points this out instead of choosing for you.
