Am I paid at least my joint committee’s minimum?

Updated on

Compare my salary with my sector’s pay scale

Your gross salary cannot fall below your joint committee’s (JC) pay scale, nor below the minimum income of €2,233.61 a month full-time. 2026 examples: from €2,242.81 a month for a white-collar worker in JC 200, €2,504.53 in hotels and catering (JC 302), €18.747 an hour in construction (JC 124), €2,512.05 on the lowest IFIC scale in health care (JC 330).

The tool below compares your salary with the pay scale for your job and experience, and shows the difference in gross and net terms.

How do you find your joint committee?

A joint committee (paritair comité in Dutch, commission paritaire in French) brings together the employers and trade unions of a sector. Through collective agreements it sets minimum wages, indexation, the year-end bonus and other benefits.

  • On your payslip: the number often appears as ‘CP 200’ (French), ‘PC 200’ (Dutch) or ‘commission paritaire 200’.
  • In your employment contract or the work rules.
  • From your employer or your trade union: the committee depends on the company’s main activity and on your status, blue-collar or white-collar, not on your occupation.

Three-digit numbers starting with 1 generally cover blue-collar workers, those starting with 2 white-collar workers, and those starting with 3 both.

Sector pay scale or statutory minimum wage?

The guaranteed average minimum monthly income (RMMMG/GGMMI) applies to all employees aged 18 and over: €2,233.61 gross a month full-time since 1 July 2026. Your joint committee’s pay scale is usually higher and depends on your job and experience. Your employer must pay the higher of the two. How much you keep on the statutory minimum: see the net minimum wage.

Paid below the pay scale: what should you do?

  1. Check the class or category of your job, and the experience or seniority your employer has taken into account.
  2. Ask for a correction in writing: the tool drafts a message with your figures.
  3. If you get no reply, contact your trade union or the Control on Social Legislation inspectorate of FPS Employment. Pay arrears can be claimed.

Frequently asked questions

Can my employer pay me less than my JC’s pay scale?

No. A pay scale set by a collective labour agreement that has been declared generally binding applies to all employers in the sector. A contract cannot provide for less. Only certain special schemes (students, apprentices) have their own scales, where the sector provides for them.

Does the pay scale also apply to part-time work?

Yes, in proportion to your hours. An hourly scale applies as it is; a monthly scale is reduced pro rata to your working hours. The tool calculates this if you enter your hours a week.

Do bonuses count towards reaching the pay scale?

In principle, no: the pay scale covers the base salary. The year-end bonus, overtime and benefits come on top, unless your sector has a specific rule.

Does my pay scale rise with indexation?

Yes. Each sector indexes its pay scales according to its own mechanism: every year on 1 January for JC 200, every quarter in construction, by 2% each time the pivot index is exceeded in other sectors. See salary indexation.
