‘Estimated net’ badge: the net pay of your salary range in 2026

Updated on

Turn a gross salary range into net pay

A job offer of 3,200 to €3,600 gross a month (white-collar, full-time) gives about €2,309 to €2,444 net a month for a single person, €2,666 to €2,824 for someone whose spouse has no income. The tool prepares a link, a block to paste below the offer and a sentence for the advert, with the parameters in force on 1 October 2026.

Candidates who click the link land on this page with the range already filled in, and see their net pay for their own situation. No trackers, no cookies: the link passes on only the range, the status and, where relevant, the work schedule.

Turn a gross salary range into net pay

Enter the offer’s range, full-time, and the status of the post. Indexo calculates the estimated net pay for three candidate profiles and prepares the link, the HTML block and the sentence.

The tool could not be displayed. Reload the page (Cmd + Shift + R on a Mac, Ctrl + F5 on a PC).

Net pay for three common ranges

Estimated net pay a month for a full-time white-collar worker, without meal vouchers or other benefits. Net pay varies with the family situation: withholding tax (bedrijfsvoorheffing / précompte professionnel) takes into account a spouse with no income and dependent children.

For a blue-collar worker, the same range of 3,200 to €3,600 gives about €2,291 to €2,418 net (single): their contributions are calculated on 108% of gross pay. At four-fifths, a single white-collar worker’s net pay drops to about €1,988 to €2,103.

Adding the badge below a job offer

  1. Enter the offer’s gross monthly range, full-time, the status of the post (white-collar or blue-collar) and the work schedule.
  2. Choose the profile quoted in the advert: a single person, by default.
  3. Copy what you need: the link (for a job site or social network), the sentence (for the text of the advert) or the HTML block (for your careers site).

Example link: https://indexo.be/en/professionals/recruiters/?brut=3200-3600&statut=employe. The page reads the range from the address and the tool fills itself in. The page’s official address remains https://indexo.be/en/professionals/recruiters/, without parameters.

The HTML block: no script, no image, no tracker

The block is a simple paragraph with a link. It loads nothing from Indexo: your page stays just as fast, and your visitors are not tracked. Add your own styles to the indexo-net class.

<p class="indexo-net">Gross salary: €3,200 to €3,600 a month.<br>
Estimated net: about €2,310 to €2,440 a month for a single person (parameters in force on 1 October 2026).<br>
<a href="https://indexo.be/en/professionals/recruiters/?brut=3200-3600&amp;statut=employe">See the net pay for your situation on Indexo</a></p>

The sentence for the advert, ready to copy: ‘Gross salary: 3,200 to €3,600 a month (about 2,310 to €2,440 net for a single person, Indexo estimate)’. The amounts in the block and the sentence are rounded to the nearest ten euros; they no longer change once the offer is published, whereas the link always recalculates with the parameters in force.

Pay transparency: what the directive provides

Directive (EU) 2023/970 on pay transparency (Article 5) gives candidates the right to know the starting pay or its range, set on objective, gender-neutral criteria. The information can appear in the published job advert or be given before the interview. Once the Belgian law is adopted, employers will no longer be able to ask candidates what they earned in previous jobs; until then, according to the FEB (Federation of Belgian Enterprises), there is no general ban, but discrimination remains prohibited.

In Belgium, these rules will apply to the private sector only after the transposing law. According to sources as of 17 September 2026, it has not been adopted. The legal deadline of 7 June 2026 has passed and remains unchanged: on 1 June 2026, the government asked the European Commission not to open infringement proceedings for six months. Showing a range now, with its net pay, already helps candidates compare offers. The timetable and the pay gap indicators are detailed on the Pay gap page.

The limits of the estimate

  • The net pay is that of a private-sector employee, with withholding tax deducted every month. The final tax, calculated the following year, may be slightly different.
  • Meal vouchers, company cars, working from home and other benefits are not counted. For a full package, the net value of each item is calculated by Pay rise or benefits? and Compare two job offers.
  • The cost of the offer to the company is calculated with Cost of a salary to the employer.

Frequently asked questions

Is the employer bound by the estimated net pay?

No. The salary agreed in the contract is the gross salary. The net is an estimate, which depends on each worker’s situation: family situation, dependent children, other household income. The badge says so clearly.

Can the link be used to track candidates?

No. The link contains only the range, the status and, where relevant, the work schedule. The page uses no cookies, no local storage and no audience measurement tool: nothing is recorded about the candidate.

Do you have to show the salary in job adverts in Belgium?

No, and it will not necessarily be compulsory after transposition: the European directive on pay transparency provides that candidates know the starting pay or its range, but this can be given before the interview rather than in the advert. The Belgian law transposing it has not been adopted according to sources as of 17 September 2026: check for its publication in the Belgian Official Gazette.

Why is net pay higher for a single-income couple?

The withholding tax deducted each month takes the marital quotient into account when the spouse has no earned income: it is lower. At €3,600 gross, the withholding tax of a white-collar worker whose spouse has no income is about €275 a month, against €659 for a single person.
