Research, university or university college: what net salary in 2026?
Updated on
Since 1 November 2026, withholding tax on pay has been calculated differently (Royal Decree of 27 September 2026). The calculations on this page still follow the previous rules: for pay received from 1 November, withholding tax and net pay may differ. Update in progress.
In 2026, on €3,000 gross a month full-time, net pay is €2,261.33 (contract staff member) or €2,196.13 (statutory civil servant), for a single person with no children, with the parameters as of 1 October 2026.
Your net pay by gross pay
| Gross per month | Contract staff member | Statutory civil servant |
|---|---|---|
| €2,500 | €2,175.62 | €1,947.24 |
| €3,000 | €2,261.33 | €2,196.13 |
| €3,500 | €2,400.40 | €2,437.05 |
A statutory civil servant pays less in social security contributions than a contract staff member, but is entitled to neither the work bonus nor the fiscal work bonus: below about €3,300 gross, their net pay is therefore lower for the same gross.
