What is single holiday pay?
Updated on
Single holiday pay is the part of holiday pay that corresponds to your normal salary during your statutory days of leave. In 2026: 8% (blue-collar workers: ‘single holiday pay’ share of the fund’s holiday pay, on gross pay at 108%). In Dutch: enkel vakantiegeld.
Definition of single holiday pay
For a white-collar worker, it does not usually appear as a separate line: the employer keeps paying the monthly salary during the holidays. For a blue-collar worker, it is part of the holiday pay paid by the holiday fund, together with double holiday pay.
When a white-collar worker leaves their employer, the single holiday pay already earned in the year is paid with their departure holiday pay.

Worked example
A blue-collar worker earned €36,000 gross in the previous year. Their single holiday pay is 36,000 × 108% × 8% = €3,110.40 gross, out of the €5,979.74 the fund pays them in total. A white-collar worker on the same salary simply keeps receiving their €3,000 a month during their leave.
In Dutch: enkel vakantiegeld
On a Dutch-language payslip or statement, single holiday pay is called ‘enkel vakantiegeld’; on a French-language one, ‘simple pécule de vacances’.
Not to be confused with…
- Double holiday pay: extra pay for your holidays, on top of your normal salary: 92% of a month’s gross pay for a full-time white-collar worker.
- Departure holiday pay: the holiday pay a white-collar worker receives on leaving their employer, for the months already worked in the year.
